WOW! I can't believe I ran another marathon! I still think it's a crazy thing to do. Where do I start. This may be more embellished then people want to read but it's my only blog so I'm writing it ALL here:)

Splits walking through water stations. Bolded the one's I'm proud of- 8:47, 8:58, 8:56, 8:37, 9:14, 8:43, 8:36, 9:11,8:58, 8:56, 8:56, 9:22, 9:00,10:08,(mile 14 hill) 9:58, 8:53, 9:10, 8:52, 9:24, 9:27, 9:57,(mile 21-finally saw Allie)! 10:11,(why so slow after seeing Allie?) 9:16, 10:09,(so darn tired and wanting to walk but didn't) 9:37, 9:25, 8:55 (last .49) The last mile I replayed Mat Kearney's "Hey Mama" and that carried me to the finish line. I stayed with the beat even though it was so tough at that point.

My best friend, (since I was 2 yrs old) Cathy came up from Vegas to run this with me. Her husband and friend came with her. This was her and her husband's first marathon. They have done a lot of triathlon's and decided to try a marathon. She ran with an injured IT band (so running slow for her) that started hurting toward the end but she still beat me by a minute. Tough chick. Apparently her slow pace is my fast pace. She carried me through this marathon.

It was sprinkling when we came out to catch the bus at 5am. We were praying it would clear up and it did when we got to the top. We were let out in a wide open cow/horse pasture at the top where all the POP's were. I was seriously stepping over huge cow puckies, dungs, whatever you call them. There was mud too but I tried to keep my beautiful blue launches as clean and dry as I could:) There were fire pits all over and that was cool. Kept us warm till the start. I saw RAD and glidergirl so I introduced myself and they were really nice and friendly. They pointed out Teena Marie in one POP line and Smooth in another. Cool to see these FRB people in person.

We lined up with the 4hr pacer at the start and the sun was shining BRIGHT! It was a beautiful day for a long run. Cathy and I stayed together for most the run. After the first canyon we came down toward Eden I think and someone was blaring the song "Here Comes The Sun" from huge speakers. That was fun. We were flat for what seemed like forever and then rolling hills around the reservoir. I came upon RAD and Smooth around mile 11 I think. We passed them and I said hi to Rachel again and said "Hey Smooth you don't know me but I know you from the blog!" They ended up passing me at the half marathon water break while I waited for Cathy in the POP and I never caught them again.

We were still ahead of the 4hr pacer at this point and heading up the hill (14). Cathy and I decided to start using music at this point. Coming down the hill the pacer caught up and I stayed with the group coming down the hill to the canyon. LOVED this part. A nice cool wind and some downhill. I was loving this part. I stayed with the pacer until mile 18 I think. He cruised through that water stop and I never caught him again. UGH! I was getting tired!

I was looking for Allie starting at mile 18 and I'm pretty sure I saw her at 21 right? She was so cute and handed me a bag with jelly bellies! What a sweetheart (I was teasing and asked her to have jelly bellies when I saw and she actually did)! There was a guy with her and I said "Are you James?" Yes it was.  I asked if I could just stay with them and James said no, go run so I did. Ran back and gave Allie a hug. Love that girl:)

It was fun to run so close to the river. It was SO high and raging. Nice and shady but  I was getting tired and kept wanting more downhill for some reason. Cathy kept having to stop and stretch but she always caught up with me. I told her not to stay with me if she felt good. She said she was giving it her all! She must have had a little more to give cause she left me around mile 23/24 and I didn't see her again till the finish line. It was nice and shady along the path and it was nice to run with the water beside. The problem with walking through the water stations toward the end is that I wanted to keep walking. I got a yummy, small otter pop at mile 24(?) and just ran through the last water station right before the mile stretch home. The last 3 miles on that path and home I just tried to give it all I had. I wanted to finish strong no matter how tired I was! I cranked the music and got in the zone! I was passing quite a few people. I passed two guys who were walking on the last mile who were cussing/talking to themselves. Looked like they were cramping up. I just pushed as hard as I could. Like I said earlier, stayed with the beat of "Hey Mama" and ran as hard as I could! I was hoping to be closer to 4 but I'm really happy with my time. 23:40 faster than my first marathon. PR!

stacie! that is a huge PR! i am so happy for you. it was exciting to see you coming down the canyon -- you looked strong and relaxed. i am glad you decided to keep running instead of staying there with us -- our job was much less interesting than running a marathon :)

i was worried about giving you the jelly bellies, as i didn't want you to have to carry extra stuff, especially if you didn't want it. however, when i saw how close we were to the aid station, i figured you could just drop them off there. i hope it wasn't annoying/burdensome, but i couldn't resist. :)

congrats once again on your great race. it was fun to read your report and hear about your experience. marathoning *IS* crazy -- on to the next one!

From JD on Sun, May 22, 2011 at 18:57:08 from 71.37.100.47

Huge PR!! Congratulations! You know if you take your pace and apply it to a distance of 26.2 (instead of the long 26.49), then you actually ran a 4:02:21. Anyway, great job! Your going to kick butt in St. George!! Great job!!

From Teena Marie on Sun, May 22, 2011 at 19:30:04 from 67.2.88.232

A huge congratulations!!!!

allie-did you pick out all the best flavors? the jelly bellies were a refreshing change. I decided they kicked in the last 3 miles and helped me finish as strong as I could! Thanks again! You are awesome!

jd-I didn't even realize the course was long until I read Teena's blog. oh well. Let's try and run another race together. Thanks for your support and encouragement!

teena-thanks! I am happy! wonder if I could cut another 15 or 20 off @ St. George if I work hard. Maybe if I start running with you...:)

gg-great to meet you! thanks! going to see if your race report is up.

From Teena Marie on Mon, May 23, 2011 at 00:34:04 from 67.2.88.232

Stacie~

I think you absolutely could.

For example look at my first three marathons:

TOU 4:53

Ogden 4:12

SGM 3:56

You are a much stronger of a runner than I was!! You can do it!!! REALLY!!!! :)

Teena! So encouraging! thank you!

Joce-so nice of you to come comment on my blog. Thanks for your interest in what I'm doing and your kind words! i'll be at the finish line for your half marathon! PR will be waiting for you there, I can feel it.

From Lysa on Mon, May 23, 2011 at 11:55:42 from 50.8.74.241

Stacie!! First of all..you and your eagle eyes again! I could never find all those people out of a crowd and know who they were even if I did see their pictures! You should seriously be a detective.

And second, What a cool race report!! You are so strong and so amazing. I am in awe. I can't believe we started running at the same time. I'm still such a beginner and you are so amazing. I loved reading this. Your ability to push so hard when you are so tired is such a telling part of who you are. A strong, determined, woman! My heart breaks a little that I wasn't with you. That I'm not as brave as you! Congratulations on an AWESOME PR! not just a little PR but a HUGE one! And Congratulations on such an amazing marathon. You are unbelievable.

From JFogg on Mon, May 23, 2011 at 12:07:39 from 204.134.132.225

Congrats on a monster PR. It was a great day to be running in Ogden. Another great report.

From Stacie on Mon, May 23, 2011 at 12:43:10 from 67.166.127.0

Lysa- Thank you! That was a really nice comment!!! Love you!

JFogg-thanks! Do you know Gary and Cheryl Fogg by chance?

From RAD on Mon, May 23, 2011 at 12:57:30 from 98.202.17.113

I'm SO impressed!! You had a GREAT PR and I (with Teena) see SGM a good 10 min faster for you. Remember, this is the beginning of the season and you have a good 4 months of training ahead of you! My first full was 4:09 at Ogden then at TOU I hit a 3:49 that same year. Definitely doable! Thanks for coming and saying hi to me, I absolutely LOVE meeting bloggers and expanding my running friends circle - running friends are the best!

You did an awesome job on this race, those last few miles are punishment all around and I kept thinking that someday my body will get used to the miles and I'll be able to push through the last 5K, but I have yet to do that with 6 marathons under my belt. Maybe 16? :)

If you were with the pacer down the canyon you were in front of us! We caught up to the pacer around mile 20ish. I wasn't in the best place in my mind down the canyon and I had zoned out, so I'm not surprised I didn't see you.

Congrats again on a wonderful race well executed! Is SGM next up for you?

From Stacie on Mon, May 23, 2011 at 13:45:23 from 67.166.127.0

Thanks Rachel! It was nice to meet you at the top! I might have lost the pacer sooner than I'm remembering. I was right with him around the beginning of the canyon @ the damn I think and then lost him @ the next water station. At some point he was ahead of me and I could see you ahead of him. I get my miles mixed up. anyway... I'm doing Ragnar and then an Alaskan Cruise(my first)and then St. George!

From RAD on Mon, May 23, 2011 at 14:03:20 from 98.202.17.113

I get my miles mixed up too when I zone out! Sometimes, in retrospect, NOT remembering is a good thing :)

Have fun at Ragnar and especially on that cruise! How fun! We should run some SGM training runs together! Porter Rockwell and the Lehi JRP are favorites of mine and shouldn't be too far for you.

From Smooth on Tue, May 24, 2011 at 23:21:28 from 67.2.121.30

CONGRATULATIONS on the HUGE PR!!! Thanks for saying hi to me and RAD! I was fumbling with my cell phone when you passed us! I am terrible with names and faces so next time you pass or see me, you'll have to tell me your name again! :) :)

I never saw the 4 HR pacer until after the dam. He doesn't stop at aid station so I stuck to him like bees to honey in the canyon miles but quickly lost the pace group at mile 23. So I wonder if I followed you in the canyon! My son and I drafted off them for a good two miles as the canyon headwind was pretty strong!

You ran an AWESOME race! You will definitely run a faster time at SG!

Oh I'd love it if you would join us in some of the group runs!

From Stacie on Wed, May 25, 2011 at 10:49:17 from 67.166.127.0

Thanks Smooth!

Very nice race report Stacie! Way to give it your all and PR like crazy!
